Electrical terminals play a crucial role in the quality and safety of electrical connections. In this article, we will practically demonstrate two major advantages of using electrical terminals, specifically tubular terminals, and explain why choosing Crimper makes all the difference.

We conducted a practical test to compare the effectiveness of tubular terminals against connections without terminals. For this, we connected two terminals using conductors, simulating a short circuit, and used a standard outlet. On one of the conductors, we applied a Crimper tubular terminal, while on the other, we did not.

After tightening the conductors with a torque control, we began simulating usage time by moving the conductors to replicate real usage conditions. We observed that, without the Crimper terminal, the conductor tends to loosen due to the flexibility of the strands. During the test, we found that the conductor without a terminal shifted, while the conductor with the terminal remained secure.

Risks of Not Using Crimper Terminals

When subjected to a current of 47 amperes, we measured the temperature of the terminals. The terminal without a terminal heated up quickly, reaching 85 degrees, while the terminal with the terminal maintained an average temperature of 54 degrees. As the current increased, the temperature difference became even more evident: the conductor without a terminal exceeded 113 degrees, while the one with the terminal reached 89 degrees. The test ended with the conductor without a Crimper terminal emitting a burnt smell and releasing smoke.

These results highlight the advantages of Crimper terminals: in addition to improving the quality and appearance of the connection, they ensure more efficient electrical conduction, reducing the generation of hot spots and increasing safety. The difference of more than 10 degrees in temperature can prevent conductor melting and avert accidents.

Therefore, when choosing electrical terminals, it is not enough to use any terminal. We strongly recommend using Crimper terminals to ensure safe and durable connections!
